Eszeha platinum Cocktailwatch

Karl Gotthilf Scheufele was born in Pforzheim on 6th August 1877 to Johannes and Sophie Scheufele. His life was altered tragically by the death of his parents when he was placed in an orphanage at the tender age of 11 years. That experience made him highly industrious and energetic but also allowed him to study watchmaking. After a spell as a salesman, he started on his own in 1904, making contacts in Russia and the Far East.

His manufacturing company (ESZEHA – spelling out the first three German phonetic letters S-C-H of his family name) made, in his own words, “brooches, pins, pendants and medallions” for domestic and foreign markets. They were adorned with diamonds and pearls in floral motifs inspired by Art Nouveau.

In 1911, Karl Scheufele switched from delivering cases and bracelets to Swiss firms to the assembly of watches and marketing articles in platinum and gold. After the 1st World War, the watch industry was most successful in Pforzheim, particularly when the locally produced ebauche movement appeared. Karl Scheufele I was supplied with movements by JLC, IWC, Vacheron Constantin, and later, Movado. Most ESZEHA watches were encased in platinum and gold richly set with gems.

So we are taking you back to a cocktail party in those days, the late 1940s. Picture yourself between rustling skirts, intoxicated by ladies’ perfume, soft music in the background, and Soft-talking people. A real party and on the other side of the room there is a lovely lady, she catches your eye. You fall in love and you are gonna give her a great gift. A cocktail watch made of platinum with diamonds, a real piece of jewelry.

Now come back to the year 2020, imagine the same circumstances…..and yes, this is a timeless gift to the woman of your dreams. We hope to see you soon!

Backstory

All of our vintage watches have been carefully selected for you. Each watch is meticulously inspected on condition and originality. Furthermore, our watches receive a full service by our highly skilled and qualified watchmakers before hitting the store, so you can wear your special find with confidence. A statement we back up with a 2-year warranty.

With over two decades of experience in vintage watches, we have developed an eye for great quality and great stories. Because we believe every vintage watch tells a story through its unique design, history and patina. A vintage watch is a time-traveling device in that sense. A practical item for daily use, that connects us to something bigger than ourselves at the same time. In an age of single-use goods and quick consumption, a mechanical marvel that is designed to last for generations is quite simply a fantastic thing to have in your life.

At AWCo, we are a diverse team of watch experts, each with their own niche interests and expertise. From history buffs to tech geeks and style gurus, we all approach this beautiful passion from different angles. We operate under the mantra that every vintage watch is unique and so is every client. We get a massive thrill out of helping you find that one special watch that perfectly suits your personality, style and budget. To see you staring at your wrist with a big smile on your face, is what we get out of bed for.

So if you like what you are seeing here, give us a visit, a call or a message via email or Whatsapp. We are looking forward to helping you discover whether this is the watch for you or your loved one.
