Tudor Oysterdate Chrono Ref. 79170
The last generation of the ‘Big Blocks’.
Introduced in 1976, The Big Blocks by Tudor were the first automatic chronograph watches in the Rolex family. They decided to make a 40mm chronograph in an Oyster-case with an automatic movement, while their mother-brand continued to produce the 38.5mm. manual Daytonas.
Tudor was actually ahead of Rolex with this watch, considering the evolution of the Rolex Daytona. Furthermore, this watch has aged very well with its ideal size for a sports-watch, being waterproof and having a very timeless appearance. The crisp silver dial is spotless and the condition of the case and bracelet are perfect. This specific piece is from 1993, and this reference was the last of the Tudor Big Block series.
The partnership between Rolex and Tudor came to an end at the end of the 1990s, and this watch is one of the last and best pieces of the collaboration to feature the best parts Rolex had to offer with a really nice Tudor finish.
