IWC Dirty Dozen Mark X

IWC was one of the “Dirty dozen” watch manufacturers in World War II. A group of twelve (obviously) watch houses making wristwatches for the allied forces according to specs prescribed by the British Ministry of Defence. Of course, this IWC model kicked off a legendary line of IWC watches under the IWC “Mark …” lineage. Interestingly, this Mark X was a field watch intended for ground troops, not a pilot’s watch like the later models.

This specific watch still features its original lume, which has taken on a spectacular orange/yellow hue! The case is sharp and the movement runs as smoothly as ever.

The design of these D12 watches is as pure and functional as it gets. This is form follows function, resulting in an honest and clear design. There is no abundance, these are pure tools. And somehow that makes this watch timelessly beautiful.
