Rolex Datejust Ref. 1601 ‘TIFFANY’
For the collectors: a beautiful two-tone ref. 1601 Datejust featuring the elusive “Tiffany dial”.
Anyone familiar with modern Rolex knows about the company’s extreme quality control. Upon vertically integrating the entire production process around the turn of the millennium, the house now has strict control over everything that comes out of the factory. It is still one of the ways to recognize an authentic modern Rolex: it is really quite perfect in every sense.
This is why collectors are so into watches from a time when things were less stringent. There is something cool and charming about a little flaw in all that perfection. Tiffany dials offer such charm. From the late fifties on, American retailer Tiffany & Co was allowed to sell co-branded Rolex watches. This logo stamping process was done by both Rolex as well as by Tiffany themselves. There were great variations in printing process, placement, color and font. Something that would be completely unthinkable in modern times.
This beautiful Tiffany Datejust is waiting for its new owner to come pick it up and wear it proudly.
