The GMT Master was designed at the request of Pan-American Airlines. “Pan-Am” was looking for a reliable watch with a 24-hour indication, a function that is almost indispensable for aviation personnel. Rolex made a modified version of the Submariner with changed timepiece (for the extra hour hand) and a new lunette: the GMT-Master reference 6542 was born.
At the end of 1959, 6542 was succeeded by 1675. It still shared many of the characteristics of the original: the matte dial and the date without rapid adjustment. The reference 1675 has been produced for 21 years. Many steel versions have been put on the market but that we now have a reference 16753 makes our vintage heart beat faster!
The dial is a so-called “nipple dial”, the small hour indication with a yellow gold edge, made up by collectors and now a fixed term in the vintage country. These dials are made for a shorter time. The condition of this GMT is beautiful, technically fully prepared by our Rolex specialist. Originally it was possible to swim with this model, waterproof 50 m / 5 atm. Nevertheless, we strongly advise against it and do not give any guarantee.
The black suede strap completes the watch, we think. If you have a different opinion, you are of course free to choose a band of your taste from our wide range. In short, we would like to welcome you and while enjoying a cup of coffee, we would be happy to tell you more about it.
