Omega Speedmaster MK II Tropical

When NASA’s outer space missions to the moon were finished in 1969, the most significant purpose of the Moonwatch died… The goal was achieved, men walked on the moon and an Omega Speedmaster with it. What was next for the Omega Speedmaster with the 70’s knocking on the door?

The production of the Moonwatch went on, but with the new 861 caliber inside the watch case. Apart from this new hour work, Omega introduced a ‘new’ watch in 1969 as well. It wasn’t a real new watch though, slightly new was more appropriate and that is the watch you’re looking at, the Omega Speedmaster MK II. The 1970’s are known for their colourful and hippie fashion, and the Speedmaster was ready to go with this flow.

The MK II had a brand new case design. This watch case was bigger and bolder than any Omega watch case known at the time. In it lays the famous triple register Speedmaster dial which has an amazing patina! The black paint on the dial has turned into a deep brown colour over time through sunrays and temperature change. This brown ‘tropical’ colour is only being enhanced by the army green tritium indexes on the dial which have nice ageing as well.

The brown leather strap from our own strap-collection matches the dial perfectly but is changeable upon request!

‘Not all those who wander are lost..’ come and wonder into our store and let this tropical watch brighten your day.
